Stephen Mosley reacts to Lab/Lib Dem decision to axe Free After Three

Deputy City Council Leader Stephen Mosley said, “Evidence shows that if you increase parking charges the numbers of visitors decrease. ‘Free After Three’ was introduced by the Conservatives to encourage shoppers back to Chester and it has worked. The actions of Labour and the Lib Dems defy belief, we are in the middle of a deep recession and we need to be supporting beleagured city centre traders.”

I am shocked by what I have heard, please please do try and put a stop to this nonsense. I thought we had beaten the car parking theology of the ofl Lib Dem/Labour Allliance.

  2. What are the Labour/LibDem alliance thinking of? Are they so short sited that they cannot see that they will be forcing the very people out of Chester that they should be supporting? Shopping, tourists and visitors are the life blood of the city and this action will result in the loss of revenue that we desperately need by taking this retrograde step.

  3. Please fight to save this scheme. I work in the city centre and some days we don't even take in a hundred pounds in the till. But after three you do notice a big difference.
    Thank you for the flyer.

  4. It defies understanding that car parking charges will increase and the successful free after 3 will cease. I have had a business in this city now for nine years and have regularly discussed the high short term parking charges with my customers. At this difficult economic time the City council should be trying to think of innovative ways of attracting people to the city not driving them away. In stead of sitting in their cosy council chambers they should consider talking to city traders about ideas to promote the city.

  5. This isn't just political nonsense its plain ignorance on the part of the Chester Lab/Lib bafoons who are clearly out of touch with reality. Free after 3 is a scheme that works ask anyone who's livelihood is dependant on such footfall at a time when every penny counts.
